It's been quiet so far. Only 14 phone calls between 7:30 and 11:50 a.m., plus five visitors. 70% of them were looking for information that, with a little effort, they could have found in the local telephone book - "What's the address for our county commissioners office?" - or on the Internet - "What's the phone number for the Chamber in Fort Worth, Texas?".

I just realized what's bothering me most about this job: People expect me to have an answer to even the most farfetched questions - "I used to live in YourLittleTown ten years ago, there was a guy Donnie who rented out railers behind that Walmart there. I forgot his last name. Do you know him?" - and they expect to get answers instantaneously - "I need the number for the Clerk of Courts." - I have to look it up in the phonebook. You'll have to hold a moment." - "But I'm calling long distance!". *sighs*

On a happier note: I managed to get a used radio for my car on eBay for only $20, so for roughly $60 ($20 radio + $12 S&H + $25 for radio removal keys) I will have music again soon - if it works with the CD changer. Cross fingers for me, will ya?
