What is wrong with people!?

First I get all worked up about the reports about underage girls being used as breeders by FLDS cult-members, and then I have to read this story. 

WTF!!??? Why do men do things like that to their children? Why???

Apparently, the man first told his wife that their daughter was missing and later (probably when the girl started having babies) that she was the member of some cult and had dropped her children on their doorstep. You have to wonder, though: This couple adopted their daughter's three children and it never occurred to the authorities to ask questions about the mother? Or make attempts to rescue her from the cult? What's wrong with the State of Austria? :(

I just hope that the daughter is okay and will be taken care of until she's able to be on her own (which might be never). It seems strange that she never made an attempt to overpower her father, especially since she had two or three children living in the basement with her who could have helped; but the whole sad story shows how easy it is to gain and retain power over people when you catch them at an early age. The poor girl probably thought all this was normal - just like those FLDS women who claim they like sharing a husband and pumping out babies etc. But that's a different, even more infuriating story.

An interesting question is what should happen to the girl's deranged father. Should he be put in jail for the rest of his life (which might be short)? And what about her mother?

Yet the man claims he is no monster because, "I could have killed them all. Then there would have been no trace. No-one would have found me out." Here is another passage: "It was Kerstin's hospitalisation that triggered the events which led to the discovery of the shocking abuse case. But Fritzl said: 'If it weren't for me, Kerstin wouldn't be alive today.'" - WTF!? Without him, Kerstin wouldn't exist in the first place! What a jerk!

I think a fitting punishment would be to lock the man up in his own dungeon for as many years as he kept his daughter down there!
